Cupcake Liner Candy Corn Tutorial

I am so excited to share this tutorial with you.
I just love the way it turned out!
I was feeling so inspired by THIS tutorial on LMM
and THIS tutorial on And Nothing Else Matters.
I was wondering walmart last night looking
for something to make a Halloween wreath out of
and these cones just screamed "Make me into a candy corn".
Which by the way my very favorite holiday candy...
I can litterally eat an entire bag in one sitting.
Have you tried the candy apple ones???
A.MA.ZING!  Well, here we go...

Here is what you need: Styrofoam cones, mini cupcake liners, glue gun and sticks, and markers

Candy corns are a little stubby so I cut the top off the cone to give it more or the shape I was looking for.

I also cut a little off the bottom.  I measured and then used a bread knife to shave the bottom off.

On the right you can see what I have left after trimming the top and bottom.

Okay, so I was trying to find liners that were already yellow and orange, no dice.  So I colored them, not solid, just enough to give it the basic color I wanted.  Although I loved the finished product, I HIGHLY recommend finding liners that are the color you want already, this was very time consuming.  I used about 100 orange and around 50 yellow.

I measured and marked off lines so I knew where to stop one color and start the next.

I drew a line all the way across.  So here you have the cone and liners and you are ready to glue{I was going to do the bigger one too, that is why it is in the picture, but coloring took waaaay too long.  I think I am going to make a ghost with this bigger one since the liners are already white.  You could also make a witch's hat out of black liners.  Use those black craft foam sheets to cut a circle for the brim and glue it to the bottom, cover in black liners, then glue a purple ribbon around the bottom and cut out a buckle from the craft foam.}  Okay, back to business.

Wrap the liner arountthe end of a sharpie so you don't burn your phalanges a.k.a. fingers.

Put a little glue

Push the end of the marker into the styrafoam a little to secure it, lather, rinse, repeat.  Over and over and over.

Here is what it looked like when I was done with the orange.

Here is what it looked like when I was done with the yellow.  BTW, I may have been doing a little happy dance to know that I was done coloring liners and got to move on to the white ones.

And here is the finished product on my buffet table.

So cute, don't cha think?  I am going to make a ghost tonight, can't wait!

Well, there you have it!  Thanks for watching!
